Hilarious Myths That Can Make You ROFL

BENGALURU: When man invented fire he realized that fire could harm us. But that didn’t stop him from using the very fire for various purposes. But as the man evolved he was rather afraid of alien theories than discovering the immense advantages behind them. Some such fears have delayed the progress for a very long time.

Before you think that those are credible fears, let me remind you that these are as hilarious as they can get. And they surely did delay some most essential developments without which, today’s world might not look like what it is today. It is not to say that all inventions are for a better future, but this theory doesn’t apply in the following inventions.

Invention: Street Light

Fear: Destroys the concept of day and night

Street lighting was a concept that was confined to oil lamps to direct the path after sunset. But when a Catholic Church opposed street lighting on the grounds that the concept is defying God’s creation of day and night, even the gas lighting that existed so far was banned. Didn't they ever think about how much more peaceful the life would be?

This ban was backed by the then Pope Gregory XVI, who obviously failed to see the world’s most basic and obvious advancement of human civilizations. Unsurprisingly lights are the most basic essentials in life today which we all are grateful to.
