Guess Who Sonia Wants As President

Bangalore: Since the President Pratibha Patil’s Presidential term will expire in July 2012, speculations for her successor are at the peak. Strong discussions have been going on between the Prime minister and Sonia for the past two weeks. Centre is also preparing for a rearrangement in the ministry. As per the latest reports Vice-President Hamid Ansari and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee seems to be the final choices for president post by congress. Though Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Lalu Yadav and M Karunanidhi are still relevant in the list these two seems to be the most considered ones.

Pranab’s name is crucial because he has been the trouble shooter and negotiator for congress for many years now .It will be a hard decision for congress to leave Mukherjee from the ministry and this increases the chances of our present Vice-President to presidential post. Sonia and Dr Manmohan Singh will be the ultimate decision takers on this.

Sonia will have more tensions to take since a lot of reshuffling seems to happen in the centre. The major changes will be in Pawan Kumar Bansal’s parliamentary affairs, Vilasrao Deshmukh’s Earth sciences and science and technology, Jaipal Reddy’s Petroleum and Natural Gas ministry and Dr C P Joshi’s Road Transport and Highways. Another change may occur since the Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi seems to to quit cabinet to take up party posts.
