Excited First-Time Voters Decide On Their Next PM

Bangalore: The next elections for India’s new Prime Minister Post will witness a huge number of youth voters. Almost half of around 15 crore Indian youth will enjoy their voting rights for the general elections next year, reports India Today.

Most first-time voters are influenced by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and hence would like to see him as their new Prime Minister, says a survey conducted jointly by the India Today Group and CVoter. The survey included insights from over 5,000 youth in the age group of 18 to 22 years from 28 states.

Modi has been heavily campaigning for the PM post and is gaining huge popularity, but there are other candidates are also quite popular. About 48 percent of youth believes Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi is the deserving candidate for this high-end post.

Several youth voters are supporting the BJP-led coalition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and nearly 34 per cent respondents would be in its favor. Following this, about 26 percent of youth would like to cast their votes to the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
