Fear of Maoists Triggers Mass Exodus Of Kids In Jharkhand

Bangalore: The Maoist insurgency is still an ongoing conflict in a state like Jharkhand where masses out there bear the burden of continuous torture meted out by the insurgents in their day to day life. Among the masses, children are the most targeted ones as they come handy to snatch guns from armed personnel or the security forces. Now in Jharkhand's Bandua village, most of the parents, out of fear are sending away their kids to work in brick kilns and as farm labourers in far off villages in order to avoid from the brutal trainings in Maoist camps, reports B Vijay Murty and Vishal Sharma for Hindustan Times.

From this village, rebels armed with guns abducted eight children and two adults to train them to make bombs. "They forcibly dragged our children into the nearby jungles and disappeared even as we pleaded for mercy," said Bilokhan Lohra, whose son was among those kidnapped.

Earlier this week, one of the abducted boy's body was dumped near his house with a burst stomach and torn hands.
