Chinese Do It yet Again; This Time Intrusion in Uttarakhand

Bangalore: The intrusion of Chinese troops into the Indian Territory is not a new thing anymore as India is frequently intruded by the Chinese troops who illegally enter the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The most recent incursion was of 21 troops of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Barahoti plains area of Uttarakhand and it is the third straight intrusion that has occurred this month apart from a face-off in Chumar and another one in Arunachal Pradesh. It poses a serious concern to the masses as the main motive of the Chinese troops isn’t clear, reported Shishir Gupta for Hindustan Times.

The accurate number of the Chinese soldiers who intruded Barahoti area could not be determined because of the poor visibility and they were believed to return back to their original base after staying across LAC for just over an hour.

A senior official claimed, “Normally, incursions are confined to Eastern Ladakh (Western) and Arunachal Pradesh (Eastern) with stray transgressions being noticed in Barahoti Plains (Middle sector) around August 15 each year. Recent intrusion was unusual in that context,” reported HT.

The latest incursion occurred amidst talks between the Indian and Chinese diplomats and just prior to the meeting of Guatam Bambawalla, Joint Secretary (East Asia) and Chinese delegation led by Ouyang Yujing Director General (Boundary Affairs) for working out solutions to make the LAC secure and also to ensure peace and harmony on the undefined boundary.
