Chennai's Worst Rain in 100 Years: Detailed Report


BENGALURU: The news of heavy downpour in Chennai and nearby regions has now spread through the media. The death count due to the heavy shower is 188 and Chief Minister Jayalalitha has deputed ministers to examine the affected areas. Train, bus or flight services remains suspended making commute a major issue of concern among the public. Children got their schools closed and half yearly exams postponed as well. Electricity services have been disrupted in areas as precautionary step.

The Tamil Nadu capital has reached at an absolute pause where ten teams from the National Disaster Rescue Force has been reported to manage the circumstance.

The city Collector E.Sundaravalli issued a flood alert after highest rainfall of 25cm. He also requested families along the Adyar River to move to safer places as this tends to be one of the most affected regions in this heavy shower. Anna Salai and GST Road are two other most affected regions, where motorists cannot even move their vehicles due to road damage.
