BENGALURU: In a recent press meet the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Smriti Irani proved her point about dignity of labor. Referring to ‘Make in India’ initiative she said that, she is keen on building a strong work force with ‘skilled’ work force. Her diplomatic skills were proved at the time she stated that she once washed utensils at a Mumbai hotel. Her humble and modest past triggered a feature by Firstpost that gave a biographic note of other Indian stars who made it big from the bottom.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam:

India’s beloved President of the era—Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s past is such that it would mesmerize millions to dream high and achieve big in all walks of life. Born to a boat owner and an ordinary housewife into a Tamil Muslim family, Abdul Kalam had to start working at tender age in order to add financial inputs of his own to supplement the household income, besides schooling. Though not a bright student, he had the urge to learn and improve his skills even if it took hours of long effort.  That untiring zeal drove him to pursue aeronautical engineering and then he went on to become a  fighter pilot. Kalam’s journey ever since his graduation from Madras Institute of Technology went beyond the skies.
