U.S. visa was refused to some sex workers restricting them from visiting International AIDS conference 2012 which was held in Washington.
The sex workers reverted back in protest and gathered from all over the nation in Kolkata. This conference continued for a week and was named Sex Workers’ Freedom Festival. The festival was an initiative to put an end to the discrimination faced by them and bring back fundamental rights for the workers in the red light area. This festival involves performances by the sex workers and big personalities attending these programs. However, it’s not exactly a way to rejoice but a struggle to bring back the rights they deserve.
