7 Foreigners who Found India as their Second Home


BENGALURU: India, a holy land that has survived for more than 3000 years by being culturally enriched and religiously tolerant. The same reason has been a head-turning to most of the countries around the world, hence many foreigners have visited India, several among them found peace here, some found inspiration and a few found career opportunities. Whatever the reason might be, they all loved the country and here goes the list of such people, who found India as their second home, as reported by the ScoopWhoop.

Mother Teresa:

Mother Teresa, a well known name in India, for having the motherly heart to serve the poor in Calcutta. Teresa was born into a  Roman Catholic family in Macedonia. In her later part of life,she moved to Ireland and subsequently to India as a Christian missionary and founded a ‘Missionaries of Charity’ in Calcutta. Similarly, being a humanitarian, she ran hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children's and family counselling programs; orphanages; and schools. Relatively she was conferred  Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Indian Government honored her by announcing Teresa as the Bharat Ratna Award recipient in 1980. Teresa died in 1997 at the age of 87 and even after her death she lives in the Indian hearts as Mother Teresa.
