50 Pct of Narendra Modi's Twitter Followers Are Fake


Bangalore: Recently Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi made headlines as his Twitter account touched one million followers. He tweeted, "A million followers! These are not mere numbers but it signifies your love and affection. Heartfelt thanks to you all".

However, in reality Modi may not have all the reasons to be happy about, as it was found that around 50 percent of his Twitter followers as fake, reported Ankur Jain for TNN. According to ‘Status People’, an internet tool launched by a group of engineers in London, Modi's account has 46 percent fake and 41 percent inactive users. The website with the help of an algorithm measures fake and inactive followers of a Twitter user.

Modi began using Twitter in 2009 and in 2010 he had one lakh followers. In November last year, he had four lakh followers. However, his following on Twitter in the last few months increased massively.

Modi is known to be an internet- savvy. He is quite frequent on social platforms like Twitter and blogs in order to make political statements. He is one of the most active politicians when it comes to social media platforms.
