Ever since the floods had washed away large number of reptiles ashore in Assam, Jadav Peyeng, set up his mind to cultivate the barren land and transform it into a forest. Peyeng, continued his obsession of planting trees even after his proposal was rejected by the forest department. Today Peyeng has a forest to his name that has been planted and pruned by himself. The forest has a rich ecosystem with flora and fauna and is also home to the Bengal tigers. He received Padma Shri for his incredible contribution to the ecosystem.
