#1 NASA Space Shuttle Program, total cost approximately $196 billion

The leader in space missions, projects and endeavors, NASA has come a long way since 1981. The space shuttle program included 135 missions and 6 Space Shuttle orbiters were used.

Unfortunately two orbiters Columbia and Challenger exploded causing the death of 14 astronauts. Huge amount of money was needed in these missions and lots were infused.
