10 Most Unsafe Places For Workers


Bangalore: Not all the countries around the globe are a good destination to opt for a good job. As per the Maplecroft’s 7th annual Working Conditions Index (WCI), the number of countries that are rated as ‘extreme risk’ increases from over 20 percent from 49 to 60, between the year 2013 and 2014. This shows the terrible scenario for workers all over the world, especially the expats. The Maplecroft’s index evaluates 197 countries on their minimum wage levels, working hours, and health and safety within their workplace.

Out of the 197 nations evaluated, here are 10 countries regarded as extreme risk for the workers.

10. Zimbabwe:
One of the poorest countries in the world, Zimbabwe is unsafe for the worker to survive. Since the independence in 1980, the government has tried ineffectively to remove the wide income gap between the rich and poor in the country. But the country still faces with a lack of employment opportunities in the formal sector. So,  Zimbabweans have extend great initiative to create jobs for themselves as carpenters, street-vendors, cross-border traders, sculptors or brick-moulders. Though, these jobs have kept many people employed, however, most workers find themselves on the fringes of the law as they often lack the required license. So, at times they tends to violate the laws that ban commercial activity in residential areas.
