(6) The Longest Ice Road In The World

Built in 1982, the winter road from Tibbitt to Contwoyto is the world's longest heavy haul ice road. The road was constructed to service mines and exploration activities in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in Northern Canada.

The length of the road ranges between 400 and 600 km and operates for 8 to 10 weeks starting in the last week of January. The drive on this road is extremely adventurous as 85 percent section of the road over frozen lakes while the remaining 73 km built on over 64 land portages between the lakes.

Every season the thickness of the ice is measured with sonar for safety purpose.

(7) The Longest Road Tunnel In The World

Laerdal Tunnel is a long road tunnel connecting Laerdal and Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway and located approximately 175–200 kilometres north-east of Bergen. It is the longest road tunnel in the world.

A total of 2,500,000 cubic meters of rock was removed from the tunnel during its construction from 1995 to 2000. The tunnel does not have emergency exits but there are emergency phones every 250 meters, which can contact the police, fire departments, and hospitals. Even Fire extinguishers have been placed every 125 meters for safety purpose.
