10 Indian Films that Deserved Oscar Mention

Bhuvan Shome (1969):

In 1969 Bhuvana Shome won three National Awards, a movie that narrates the story of an unbending government official whose life takes a complete turn after his trip to Gujarat. The subtle performances by the characters and the uncompromising satire are  well portrayed by Mrinal Sen. He deserved a National Award but India sent Deiva Magan, tamil movie, another National Award movie that also deserved Oscar but unfortunately didn’t get nominated.

Anand (1971):

You don’t value what you’ve got unless you meet someone who doesn’t have that. The story of a pessimist doctor who meets Anand, a chronic cancer patient. Anand’s laugh away attitude has a great influence on the doctor, and helps him become a better person. The same year India sent ‘Reshma Aur Shera’ to the Oscar nominations.
