Ubuntu 13.04 To Be A Part Of Nexus 7

Bangalore: Canonical community manager Jono Bacon has announced that Ubuntu 13.04 needs to be a part of the Nexus 7 tablet. Bacon urged testers and developers to assist Ubuntu, so that Linux based operating system can broaden its eminence onto multiple platforms.

But Bacon also reminded that there is huge difference in the way operating systems are run on both PCs and tablets. For gadgets, operating systems need an extensive re-tooling and thorough testing.

"Topics such as battery life, memory footprint, and support for sensors are all areas in which needs and expectations vary widely between a PC and a mobile devices," Bacon wrote in a blog, adding that this is a prime focus in the Ubuntu 13.04 development cycle.

"This will mean that some user-facing parts of the experience won't make a lot of sense on the tablet, but we want to get the foundations optimized before we focus on these higher level challenges," he added.

Google already was scheduled to launch its latest hardware updates at the Google event in New York, but had to cancel the whole event due to the effects of hurricane Sandy.
