Dropbox Upgrades its Security Authentication Service


Bangalore: Storage service provider, Dropbox has announced that they are all set to introduce a two-set factor authentication system for all their user accounts.

File sharing utility service, Dropbox announced this upgrade prior to a hacking spree; happened earlier after user ids and passwords where posted on another website and the hacker’s used these details to hack into accounts.

To obtain this security upgrade, users must improve their current version to 1.5.12, where after upgradation they can manually set the security from the Dropbox website. Along with that users can also additionally opt for a six digit secret code sent via SMS to their mobile phones.

Users can also go for other supporting apps like Google Authenticator or Amazon AWS MFA, which are Time-Based One-Time Password protocol. Also Dropbox announced that Apple users can benefit this authentication by using OATH tool.

The authentication actually meant that users will receive a 16-digit backup code, which they can use, in case of any phone theft or unavailability of codes through SMS.
