Bangalore: A 15 year old teenage boy was arrested by the Austrian police for allegedly hacking into 259 companies within a period of three months. When the boy was taken into custody and questioned, he confessed to the attacks said Austria’s Federal Criminal Police Office. 259 hacks in duration of 3 months! In other words the boy successfully attacked an average of three websites per day. The name of the boy hasn’t been revealed yet as the investigation is under process.

The young boy is accused of stealing and mutilating data of companies, moreover he has also published user data that was illegally obtained by hacking websites and databases. Authorities allege that the boy scanned the Internet for vulnerabilities and bugs in websites and databases and then exploited those sites, reports ZDNet.

This lad has also defaced enormous company websites and boasted about his accomplishments on Twitter, where he also posted links to his data dumps. He is suspected of breaching the security of 259 companies, public institutions and authorities in Austria between  January 2012 and March 2012, and the attacks were not just limited to just Austria but other countries as well.

Moreover, the attacks were not just restricted to any specific industry or organization everything from sports companies, to tourism services, to adult entertainment; to search services were targeted and attacked. The boy while confessing to the police said the reason behind the attack was his boredom and also because he wanted to prove himself. It also seems like the boy was highly inspired by the hacktivist group Anonymous and their popularity and therefore he looked to the online world for praise and affirmation.
