6. United Kingdom: $2.8 trillion

United Kingdom’s economy is facing a plunge with widening current account deficit and low GDP growth rate. Yet, it made it to the list of richest economies. UK has an economy worth $2.8 trillion as of 2014. Though declining, the country has a relatively strong per capita of $37, 300. However, the country doesn’t seem so badly off in economic terms. Here again, 16.2 percent of people in the country live below the poverty line.

5. France: $2.9 trillion

France has an economy worth $2.9 trillion and ranks 39th, with a GDP per capita of $35, 700. The country also has a low poverty rate with 7.9 percent of the French living below poverty line. France’s economic freedom has been stagnant, recording the fifth worst performance among advanced economies.

4. Germany: $3.9 trillion

Germany has a purchasing power worth $3.9 trillion, marking it out as the wealthiest economy of all the European countries. Germany also ranks a strong 29th place with a GDP per capita of $39, 500. With 15.5 percent of Germans living below the poverty line, the country does have some work to do in terms of encouraging the trickle-down effect.
