Hindustan Times is a venture of HT Media Ltd., a component of KK Birla group. The media company is presently managed by GD Birla’s granddaughter, Shobhana Bhartia in collaboration with the Times Group. Bhartia owns 69 percent stake worth 834 crore. Apart from her, HPC Mauritius LTD, Smallcap World Fund Inc, Amansa Invesment, SBI Life Insurance, Reliance, Bajaj, HDFC and ABP holding stakes in the company.

The media house presently owns hindustantimes.com, shine.com, Mint, firefly ventures, htSyndication, HT Burda and Fever 104FM.

Zee Group

The second largest media and entertainment company in India Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL) is a subsidiary of the Essel Group. It is managed by Subash Chandra while Punit Goenka is the chief executive. Interestingly, Subash Chandra, Laxmi Narain Goel (Chairman Suncity Project Ltd), Ashok Goel (MD, Essel Propack), Jawahar Goel (MD, DishTV) are all brothers running the media in the country.

The company owns 34 channels running across 169 countries. The group provides companies under the sectors of media, technology, education, entertainment, packaging, infrastructure and charity.
