Frugality Comes First For These 9 Billionaires

6. Tim Cook
Net worth- $400 Million

Timothy Donald “Tim” Cook is an American business executive and CEO of Apple is known to live for his modest lifestyle. He lives in a 2,400-sqaure-foot condo in Pal Alto worth $1.9 million in 2010.

His day begins at 4:30 AM by sending necessary emails; he enjoys cycling and hiking, besides that he is enthusiastic towards his work. He keeps Sunday night reserved for the staff meetings on telephone for next week planning and preparation.

He’s quoted as saying in the book Inside Apple, “I like to be reminded of where I came from, and putting myself in modest surroundings helps me do that. Money is not a motivator for me.”

7. David Cheriton
Net worth- $3.3 Billion

David Ross Cheriton is a computer science professor at Stanford University.  He has made huge investments in technology companies and owned a large chunk of Google stock.

Cheriton is known to have a frugal lifestyle, avoiding expensive cars or large houses. He usually rides his bike, though he also drives a 1993 Honda Accord or a 1986 Volkswagen camper. He is still living in the Palo Alto home which he had bought in 1981.  Most interestingly, the billionaire cuts his own hair rather than wasting time and money going to a barber.

David Cheriton hates the idea of living a life like a billionaire. After getting net worth of $1.3 billion from Google shares, he told that “I'm actually quite offended by that sort of thing,” in an interview with Edmonton Journal in a 2006. “These people who build houses with 13 bathrooms and so on, there's something wrong with them,” added Cheriton.
