Super-Luxury Car Makers Bet Big on Smaller Indian Cities

BANGALORE: Days are gone when super-luxury cars were only spotted in Mumbai and Delhi. Super-luxury car makers are now betting for the smaller Indian cities. Affluent population from the cities of Ahmedabad, Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, Ludhiana and Chandigarh are becoming proud owners of Lamborghini, Jaguar-Land Rover, Mercedes and Audi. These small city customers are accepting the offers of these super car biggies worth a whooping crore or more, reports dnaindia.

The Italian Lamborghini is making its mark in Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar with sales figures of 5, 6 and 2 respectively in the past 6 months. Lamborghini owned by the Volkswagen group has now 110 buyers in the nation which is a significant figure for the Indian market.

Apart from Lamborghini, Audi and Mercedes Benz are also earning increased sales from the smaller cities in the country. Kochi, Hyderabad and Coimbatore have witnessed the highest sales of super luxury cars in the last few months.

"Markets like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are fast emerging. However, Mumbai and Delhi, especially the National Capital Region, remain one of the strongest markets in terms of sale volumes for the manufacturers," said Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Super luxury car makers are making most of these growing markets and targeting these smaller cities with high potential for sales.
