Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani better known as 'Dhirubhai Ambani' found Reliance Industries after years of struggle. Born is a very small village of Kukaswada near Chorwad in the then princely states of Junagadh, Dhirubhai hailed from a very ordinary family. Hirachand Gordhandhas Ambani, Dhirubhai’s father was a village school teacher with little income.

The billionaire commenced his journey as worker in Arab merchants during the period of 1950s and later around 1958 shifted to Mumbai. The man had a vision to look deep in the future and during the License Raaj in India commenced his own business dealing in polyester. Soon Dhirubhai was known as the ‘Prince of Polyester’. Today Reliance industries operate in five major segments: exploration and production, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and telecommunications and is ranked 99th on Fortune Global 500 list of the world's biggest corporations for the year 2012.
