Global Business Confidence Peps Up Tourism In India

BANGALORE: India is the land of innumerable Gods and Goddesses, languages, religions and traditions, in short a land with varied cultures.

As such, tourism is one of the most important and largest industries regarded as key sector of national economy. It generates a major part of the national income as an important source of foreign currencies, necessary for local development, reports Business Standard.

The Incredible India campaign has successfully attracted 4.21 lakh foreign tourists to the country in May this year as compared to 3.84 lakh for the same period last year, marking a growth of 9.7 percent, as per the Tourism Ministry data. The Indian Government is reported to earned 7403 crore as foreign exchange in May as against 6,092 crore in the corresponding period last year, showing an increase of 21.5 percent growth, as per the data.

According to travel firms, most of the development in tourism can be attributed to a rise in business activity and increased interest among foreign investors to look out for business prospects in India.

Corporate travel to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and even tier-two cities such as Vizag and Guwahati has increased considerably over the year.
