Global Business Confidence Peps Up Tourism In India



 Arjun Sharma, managing director, Le Passage to India, one of the leading travel agencies in the inbound sector said, "The wait-and-watch period is over. The sentiment is very positive. The dialogue for investments has started in the business community, which has boosted travel," reports BS.

Not just corporate travelers but non-resident Indian travelers are also helping in boosting country’s tourism economy manly in the summer months.

However, winter favors the hotel industry as it boost up the demands at that period. S M Shervani, president of Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India said, "The demand has increased but so has the supply. We have seen only slight improvement over last year."

Though foreign tourists spend lesser on the hotel industry, it is the frequent business traveler that has led to an increase of 17 percent in foreign exchange earnings. This sealed India as a destination for "the quality tourist".

It is also noteworthy that developing tourism for country’s economic growth has been highlighted as a big driving force for the PM Modi-led government and during his visit to Bhutan, PM mentioned tourism as a vehicle of growth and international cooperation. Because of which, the Union ministry has plans to develop 50 tourist circuits in the country.
