McMillon was promoted to succeed Mike Duke, 63, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart on November 25, 2013 and assumed the role on February 1, 2014. McMillon also sits on the company’s board of directors. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas in 1989 and an MBA from the University of Tulsa in 1991.

Hiroshi Mikitani is a Japanese businessman and the co-founder and CEO of Rakuten. Mikitani was born in Kobe, Hyogo prefecture, Japan. He attended Hitotsubashi University, graduating in 1988. While working for the Industrial Bank of Japan, Mikitani was transferred to the U.S. and from 1993 studied at Harvard Business School, earning an MBA. In 1997, he left to start his own consulting group called Crimson Group.
