Tablet World: Future Trends to Watch Out

LED the Key to Foldable, Flexible Tablets?

OLED is being touted as the future screens in smartphones. LED seems to be the screen of the past. It is because of the OLED display in the Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone that made it lighter, thinner and tougher that any of the other displays in the market. OLED technology once developed in the future will help develop tablets that can be folded up or even be rolled up like a newspaper. Though this might just take a long time as the chips that go into the tablet will also have to be developed in such a way that it can be foldable.

The first gadgets to be developed as foldable would be smartphones as it would be easier to work on and this would then slowly lead to foldable tablets as well.

Specialty Glass Company Corning I, which is famous for its “gorilla glass” used in Apple devices has developed a flexible glass called “willow glass” that has the characteristic which lends itself perfectly to be wrapped around a device. This glass is compatible with OLED displays as well lending it perfectly to flexible and wearable devices.
