Sony Playstation VR Specs, Launch Date & Price Revealed


BENGALURU: Sony’s PlayStation VR headset specifications are reveled and the great news is that it will be out in the market in 2016. Sony which had earlier announced a prototype under the code name Project ‘Morpheus’ has now gone ahead and reveled the end product details with specifications, price compatibility and many more, reports Tech2.  

Specifications

The PlayStation VR headset gets a 5.7-inch OLED display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, that include a 100-degree field view, an accelerometer and a gyroscope along with nine LEDs for head tracking. The headset outputs to a television through Sony’s Social screen where it lets others gamers who are without the headsets to view game play as well as even join in between the game play. Furthermore, the device also comes with a 3D audio with mic and stereo input slots along with HDMI and USB ports.

Price: As of now the rumored prices are about £300/$400 which is about 35,000 but if Sony plans to bring it in with the PS4 the prices could go up to £550/$750

Connectivity: Currently it’s a wired devise where you need to connect to your PlayStation 4 via a hub that also has HDMI for outputting to Social Screen. But certainly Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity is a possibility in the near future.

Release Date: Early 2016, however, no official date has been announced yet.

Competitors:  Facebook’s Oculus Rift, Microsoft’s Xbox One's HoloLens, Gear VR, HTC Vive,  Samsung Gear VR, FOVE VR.
