However, at first, Apple decided to offer discount on its latest iPhones in less than a month of its launch, according to indiatimes.com.

The new iPhones are the most expensive in India as compared to other countries around the world. Thus, the buyback scheme is undoubtedly one of Apple’s attempts to boost its sales post a lukewarm Indian response to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. One of Apple’s four iPhone distributors, Ingram Micro announced the buyback scheme in some Apple stores and a couple of other multi-brand cellphone stores in South India, soon to be available across the country.

This move will be followed by the other three distributors with Apple’s attempt to meet its target sales for the October-December quarter. The buyback scheme of 34,000 on the latest iPhones is against iPhone 6. The offer includes some hi-end Samsung handsets as well.
