5 Linux Gadgets Every Geek Should Have

Rubik’s Cube Robot: This Rubik’s Cube robot is a LEGO robot that broke the world record on 15 March 2014, for being the fastest machine to solve the Rubik’s Cube. This machine, Cubestormer 3, made by David Gilday and Mike Dobson, broke the record by solving the Rubik’s cube in 3.253 seconds which was previously held by Cubestormer 2 that solved the cube in 5.55 seconds. An eight-core ARM chip-infused Samsung S4 smartphone controls four robotic hands and 8 LEGO Mindstorm sequencers.
Linux-powered Rifle: Inspired by the missile-lock on fighter jet technology, a long rifle that was made to improve the accuracy of shooting. This rifle needs a human being to mark the target and then the computer will “engage and assist” the person in shooting. This Linux-powered rifle can also video record your shot which you can download and watch and upload on YouTube. It also has an inbuilt wi-fi server that allows you to connect to your iPhone or iPad to act as a spotter. This rifle was primarily used for hunting purposes but has recently been bought by the U.S. Army for $17,000 per piece.
Linux/Android Watches: The Linux watch, Pebble, is the Smartwatch that connects to your android, iPhone or smartphone via Bluetooth. Pebble provides the wearer with alerts about important notifications like calls, emails, or SMSs by silent vibration.

With the help of apps, Pebble allows you to control your music or access your GPS on your smartphone. Apps for Pebble are available on Pebble App Store and they have to be downloaded onto the smartphone and sent to the watch through Bluetooth. This Smartwatch has a 144x168 pixels display and is glare-less because of its e-paper display. The watch can charged with a special USB cable, and this charge lasts upto 7 days.
