The Good: Sony Xperia P is a slim and portable smartphone and it comes with a 5 mega pixel camera with interesting features. The processor is quite fast and it does not leave the user feeling frustrated with its speed.
The Bad: Well there are quite a few places where Xperia P does let us down. The phone does not run on Android 4.0 which seems slightly strange, but Sony has promised us an upgrade to 4.0 soon. The phone does not have a slot for a microSD card and it has only 16 GB internal memory out of which only 13 GB is useable. The battery life is just about passable.
The Bottom Line: Though there are a lot of places that the phone needs improvement it is a worth buying.
Design: At 10.5 mm Sony Xperia P is slimmer and sleeker than its cousin Xperia S. Sony has decided to stick to the same design line for all its Xperia phones. Xperia P also has a see-through Perspex panel near the bottom which lights up whenever you get a call or a message. This strip also has the three buttons, Home, Back and menu. Many of you might find the lighting up of the strip slightly cheap but we must admit is does give the phone an extra something to it.
Unlike the Xperia S none of the port is Xperia P have a plastic cover on it. On the left side you will find the Micro-USB and the Micro-HDMI ports. The top has on the audio jack and all the other buttons; the power, volume and camera shutter buttons can be found on the right side.
Sony never disappoints in the area of colours. They always come out with gadgets that combine looks and features. The Xperia P comes in three colours; silver, black, red.
Processor and Operating System
The Sony Xperia P is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor is backed by 1GB RAM. With this configuration is does provide its user with speed though it may not compare to Xperia S’ 1.5 GHz processor. Using apps and browsing the net is quite fast.
As of now the phone will operate on Android 2.3, Gingerbread, but there is nothing to worry as Sony has promised that the upgraded to 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich will soon be available.
The battery has a pretty decent life. The battery would last for a day with moderate usage of mails, social networking sites, calls and messages. But to be on the safer side it would be better if you carried your charger along with you only because the phone has a non removable battery means you cannot change the battery even in an emergency.
Features and Performance:
Screen: Sony Xperia P has a 4-inch capacitive touch screen. The screen size is complimented well with a resolution of 960x540 pixels. Though for some it might be a step down from the resolution of Xperia S which has 1280x720 pixels.
Apart from that the screen is big enough for you to view movies and videos comfortably. The screen size is just perfect as it is just perfect to fit snugly into your pocket. The screen gives you sharp images with good almost life like colours. The phone also comes with Sony’s Bravia Engine which makes video viewing enjoyable. Sony has also installed its WhiteMagic technology which makes viewing of the phone even in the sunlight possible. This technology compares to the iPhone 4S.
Camera: The camera in Sony Xperia P has Sony’s Exmor R backside-illuminated (BSI) sensor. The 8 megapixel camera doesn’t have a shutter lag which helps you to click pictures quickly without any delay. With this megapixel the camera falls right in between that of Xperis S’s 12 mega pixels and Xperia U’s 5 mega pixels. The camera also comes with an impressive 8x digital zoom and a bright LED flash.
The pictures that you take on your phone are good and they have near to life accurate colours and with minimum amount of noise. The camera can also record 1080 pixels full HD videos and with the HDMI port you can also transfer the video directly to your HD TV.
The phone also has a VGZ front facing camera which allows you to make video calls.
Storage and Connectivity: Like Xperia S, Xperia P also doesn’t have a slot for microSD card which at times gets frustrating and tiresome. But unlike the S which has an internal memory of 32GB, Xperia P has only 16GB internal memory of which only 13 GB is useable.
The phone does support GPS.
Price and Availability: This smartphone is priced at Rs.25,000 making it a mid-range smartphone. But there isn’t anything to worry about as the various online sites will sell them at a lesser price. The phone is available on online sites like infibeam.com, buytheprice.com and flipkart.com for as low as Rs.23,279.
Wrap-Up: The smartphone has exciting features packed in it and is available in the lower end bracket of the high-end phones. The phone is a good alternative Android Smartphone to the Apple’s iPhone 4S. Operating all the exciting features on the phone is made easier with Sony’s NXT user interface.

Pros:
The device features a 4-inch TFT display, which runs Sony’s mobile BRAVIA technology and offers a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. It is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz along with 1GB of RAM.
Cons:
The cost of the product is varying day 2 day. From most reliable sources its cost maybe around 24000 to 26000 most probably 25500. As it is degrated when compared to Xperia S which was released on april 5th costing 32900. cost of xperia is high.
In my views, xperia p looks very great than other smartphones from sony as it is d sony 1st series launch after separating from ericsson. The Sony Xperia P is a slightly stripped down version of the famous Sony Xperia S. The screen size has been reduced from 4.3 in the Xperia S to a 4.0 inch in the Xperia P. Also the HD resolution has been replaced with 540 x 960 pixels. Instead of the Snapdragon chipset, Sony have used the and the GPU used is also difference. The dual core processor is clocked at 1GHz. The camera has also seen a degrade from 12MP in the Xperia S to 8MP in Xperia P. But the Xperia P will manage to do a Full HD 1080p video recording. There will be a HDMI port too.The Sony Xperia P was supposed to be launched in India by May 7th, but because of some delay, Sony has pushed the release of the Xperia P to May 28th. The price of Xperia P is yet to be officially announced in India, but we expect the price to be well less of the Xperia S as there have been reduction in every department. Perhaps what most calls the attention at first in this Sony Xperia P is its design. First, combining two colors: black and silver. But yes, your body is completely of aluminum. Meanwhile, screen reaches 4” inches diagonally with a maximum resolution of 960 x 540 pixels with a color depth of 16 million. The company also unveils technology WhiteMagic, Which attempt to provide quality on-screen representations and in full sunlight, it is impossible to view all content. Device design is fantastic, undoubtedly one of its strongest points. Stylish, elegant and relatively light, 120 grams.The device operates on networks GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100, So that you can access without problem networks 3G (HSDPA, HSUPA) to connect to broadband internet. You can also connect to wireless networks Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n to exploit any available connection at home, at work or at any public or private that offers this service. Next generation NFC also has (Near Field Communication) With whom to share material with other compatible equipment or accessories connected to recent release. Users also intend to access the entertainment platforms, are available to the 3D album, Accelerated Adobe Flash Video, Media browser, Motion gaming, FM radio with RDS, Send to Web TV Launcher, Streaming Video and access to online content platforms as YouTube.
The Xperia P does not come standard with the latest update of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but will have to settle for 2.3 Gingerbread, who has already served more than 15 months.
Memory is another weak point of this phone. Has 16 GB user memory, which is not bad compared to other similar phones. Looking at his features, not found for any site the ability to expand capacity using memory cards. Moreover, Xperia P has 1GB of RAM, a figure sufficient to run applications smoothly.
