Bank of China Limited (BOCI) headquarters are in Xicheng District, Beijing. It was established in 1912 by the Government of the Republic of China, to replace the Government Bank of Imperial China. BOCI is the oldest bank in China. From 1912-1942, it issued banknotes on behalf of the Government. At present, it owns subsidiaries in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore, and a sales network covering most major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Agricultural Bank of China Limited (ABC), also known as AgBank, was founded in 1951, and has its headquarters in Beijing. It has branches throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, New York, Frankfurt, Sydney, Seoul, and Singapore. ABC has 320 million retail customers, 2.7 million corporate clients, and nearly 24,000 branches around the world. It is China's third largest lender by assets. ABC went public in mid-2010, fetched the world's biggest ever initial public offering (IPO). As of 2011, it ranked 8th among the Top 1000 World Banks, meanwhile Forbes Global 2000 named it the 25th-largest public company of the world.
