How To Get Health Insurance For A Newborn

Documents

At the annual policy renewal, you need to be prepared with the necessary documents. A copy of your child’s birth certificate, any documents related to medical history and maternity discharge certificate need to be given to the healthcare insurance provider.

Premium

Upon receiving the necessary documents, the health insurance provider will recalculate the premium after adding the child's cover. On payment of the revised premium, the policy will be issued covering the child as well.

Before the policy can be issued, the insurance provider will have to calculate the new premium. The cost of the child’s coverage has to be added and the premium will be revised. Once you pay the new premium, the policy will take effect and cover the child as well.

Points to note

- Family floater policies generally apply to children till they reach 21 of age.
