Shareholders should scrutinize corp governance

New Delhi: Sebi Chairman C B Bhave has called for country specific approaches to ensure the implementation of corporate governance and has asked minority shareholders such as mutual funds to be more vigilant in monitoring the corporate governance practices of those companies where they have invested. According to Bhave, the approaches should differ on the basis of the legal framework, market conditions and the state of development of capital markets in each country. Bhave expects that the corporates should look at the auditing process for early warning signals at the corporate governance front.
