Rupee gains 4 paise against dollar in early trade


Mumbai: The rupee today appreciated by 4 paise to 46.62 a dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange largely on the back of fresh capital inflows by foreign funds. Dealers said the rupee strengthened against the US currency after fresh capital inflows by foreign funds into equities and gains in other Asian currencies against the dollar. The domestic currency had closed 20 paise higher at 46.66/67 in the previous session on Friday. The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by 153.29 points, or 0.86 percent, to 17,986.83 in opening trade.
