BENGALURU: Contactless Credit Card! What is it? The tech savvy ICICI Bank introduced the first contactless credit and debit card in India at the very beginning of this New Year. Contactless credit cards or debit cards use the near field communication technology (NFC) to make payments easy at the merchant outlets.

Now there is no need to swipe your card at the point of sale instead you can just tap at the NFC based card reader to make instant payments. The NFC technology enables smartphones and other devices to use radio frequency identification to enable contact with each other within a close proximity.

1. Credit cards embedded with NFC chip use radio frequency identification for making a secure payment. The NFC technology enabled chip and an antenna is incorporated to the cards which enable users to wave the cards over the card reader while making payments.
