7 Ways Big Banks Steal Your Money

4. By charging on using ATMs for cash withdrawal

ATM usage fees are the fees that many banks and interbank networks charge for the use of their Automated Teller Machines. In some cases, these fees are assessed solely for non-members of the bank and in other cases, they apply to all users.

Many of the banks in India have already started charging the same. Also if you travel abroad and use your ATM or debit card, it's reasonable to expect that you will be charged ATM fees. What is not reasonable, however, is the additional “foreign ATM transaction fee” charged by some banks. If you are afraid of carrying large sums of cash when you travel, traveler's checks might be an option.

5. By charging on service given

These are fees charged by the banks monthly or annually, simply because you owe an account. These fees can be charged on checking accounts and on savings accounts. Some banks make it less obvious by charging an annual fee instead of a monthly fee. Remember the fees taken out of your account automatically, can potentially trigger an overdraft.

To avoid such charges look for banks that offer free checking or by finding out if you can have your service fees waived by meeting certain conditions, like maintaining a minimum balance, or engaging in a certain number of transactions.
