6 Must Know Non-Financial Skills in Finance

2. Communication skills

This is one of the most required non-financial skills in finance. Performing complex and lengthy calculations is not just sufficient; however, a large part of any finance job is to effectively communicate the results and ideas with clients, third parties, co-workers, and senior management. Nowadays memos and emails are becoming the main mode of communication between the employees and partners. Remember, there is nothing worse than reading illiterate, confused and poorly framed writing. The exchange of ideas with the investors, managers and clients must be effective and well-formulated. If you want to leave a good impression in your superior’s mind then it is always better to improve communication skills.

3. Relationship skills

Supposedly, to achieve success in finance, two main skills are required—good psychology and a fair technical knowledge. For a finance professional apart from having the ability to relate to clients they should be able to understand different personalities by asking right questions, avoiding and resolving conflicts if any and by counseling and listening to their clients. Once the clients are satisfied with you then they would recommend you to others.
