5 Best Credit Card Tips While Travelling Abroad

2. Inform your credit card issuer about your travel: It is always advisable to notify your card issuer about your traveling abroad. Some issuers may only require you to follow an automated phone prompt to activate the card for using it abroad. But there are other issuers who may ask you to disclose the exact cities or regions in which you are staying rather than just the country you are visiting. Deactivation of your card can spoil your vacation as there are many card issuers who can deactivate your card after you use it for more than six times a day. This deactivation procedure is to just secure your card from fraudsters.  So it is better that you notify your card issuer even before you start your happy journey!

3. Keep credit card issuers phone number handy: Suppose you are on sightseeing and you suddenly realize that you lost your card? What will you do next? Of course, you will block your card; but how? It is advisable to keep your bank or credit card issuer’s number while travelling, that too when going abroad. First thing to do is to find out the credit card issuer's phone number and call the issuer before your travel dates. Secondly, note down the phone numbers that are found on the back of the credit card as well as the monthly statement. Also check if your credit card issuer has an international phone number to contact in case if you have lost your credit card or if it is stolen.
