Ahmedabad: With registering a return of more than 79 percent on investment, year 2009 emerged to be the best year for investors since 2000. Once again Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) proved to be the frontrunners in terms of the inflow, pumping more than 82,000 crore in the Indian market in the current calendar, reports Economic Times. For the first time in BSE history, the Sensex witnesses the upper circuit limit of 20 percent, halting trading for the whole day. It was this year that market capitalization of Indian bourses doubled (till December 24) from $0.63 trillion to $1.28 trillion. According to D D Sharma, Senior Vice President, Anand Rathi Securities, it is a year of grand recovery of Indian economy. He said, "We have seen re-establishment of the India growth story which brought back FIIs towards India. Those who doubted the market, lost chance to make money."
