Sensex Closes 291 Points Higher


MUMBAI: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Tuesday was trading 311.29 points or 1.29 percent up during the afternoon session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 93.85 points or 1.28 percent up at 7,444.85 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 24,257.28 points, was trading at 24,499.66 points (at 01.38 p.m.) in the afternoon session, up  311.29 points  or 1.29 percent from the previous day's close at 24,188.37 points. 

The Sensex touched a high of 24,538.43 points and a low of 24,247.23 points in the trade so far.

Later in the day, a benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Tuesday provisionally closed trading 291.47 points or 1.21 percent up.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 84.10 points or 1.14 percent up at 7,435.10 points.
 
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 24,257.28 points, closed the day's trade provisionally at 24,479.84 points (at 03.41 p.m.), up 291.47 points or 1.21 percent from the previous day's close at 24,188.37 points.
 
The Sensex touched a high of 24,563.34 points and a low of 24,247.23 points in the trade so far.
 
Good buying was observed in telecom, industrials, capital goods and power sectors.
