WebEx India partners with Indicom Software

Bangalore: WebEx Communications, a provider of online meeting applications today announced that it has signed a partnership with Indicom Software and Services (Indiss), a Chennai based e-learning company, to provide universities in India with online technical training courses to help them reach out to a much larger student community. The joint solution, based on the WebEx Training Center will provide hands-on experience for students across universities in India, starting with Tamil Nadu. The joint offering will also allow universities to conduct online tests. In their bid to remain competitive and innovative, there is a perceived need by universities to reach out to a much larger student base, especially for courses that are technical and require hands on training. The aim of such initiatives is to make students industry ready, by providing them with quality education and equally superior faculty, to take on a globally competitive. The demand for such students is also great within the corporate circles. With the WebEx based solution, universities will achieve economies of scale and will be able to tap potential students in remote areas as well, without having a significant bearing on investments. "Technology is driving all sectors today. Educational institutions can leverage the technology solutions available today to reach out to a larger student base, especially to provide technical training. We are glad to have entered into this partnership with Indicom, to help fuel quality education in the country. This partnership is also in line with our strategy to reach out to different verticals by tying up with leading organisations.” said Kiran Datar. Indicom Software and Services, currently offers technology solutions to educational institutions, including setting up of mobile labs, faculty training programmes and student training programmes. It has launched a new division called “Indiss E Learning” and with Webex will scale out its current training programmes by drawing up MoUs with Universities across various cities in Tamil Nadu. Universities which have affiliate colleges, distance education or exchange programmes are being targeted for this solution. Indicom will start providing certificate courses on mobile computing for students and working professionals. Using this solution, which is internet based, students will be able to access these courses, even from remote locations, at practically no cost. The solution will enhance and complement the current Study Centre model and educational institutions will be able to control assessment quality, which in turn will lead to assurance of quality and standardization of courses.
