Two Indians in Forbes 400 richest Americans

BANGALORE: Two Indian Americans feature in the just released Forbes list of 400 richest Americans. They are Kavitark Ram Shriram and Amar Bose. While Shriram, ranked at 258th position in the Forbes list, is one of the directors in Google Inc since 1998. His net worth is $1.3 billion. Shriram gained $400 million by selling Google stock and still owns 3.4 million shares worth $960 million. He first came into prominence in 1998 after he sold shopping portal Junglee.com to Amazon and later turned into an investor. He is associated with many important technical groups like Plaxo, Yodlee, Zazzle.com. The second Indian American in the list is Amar Bose, founder of Bose Corporation. His net worth is $1.2 billon while the company has a sales turnover of $1.7 billion. He is ranked at 283. Bose set up the Bose Corporation in 1964 while teaching at MIT. So good were his products that the NASA and the U.S. military asked him to supply speakers for improving audio communications. Today Bose Corporation employs around 6,000 people and is has become a symbol for quality and technical innovations in the world of audios.
