2. A. M. Naik: Anil Manibhai Naik is the CEO and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro Limited, an engineering conglomerate. He joined L&T as a Junior Engineer in 1965. With his professionalism, dynamism and high ethical values, he was promoted rapidly which made him the CEO on 28th April, 1999 and MD in 2003.
Naik started the process of indigenizing manufacture of critical equipment for process industries, which enabled the industry to attain success in the arena of critical technology in the defense and nuclear sectors. He reconstructed the company and took it to its apex.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, which is the 3rd highest civilian award in the country. Apart from being a top CEO he is also associated with many educational and charitable trusts. He is a member of Board of Trustees of the Indian business Trust for HIV/AIDS (IBT). He is also Honorary Consul General for Denmark in Mumbai.
