Salt Lake Temple
The Salt Lake Temple is located in Salt Lake City in Utah. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints constructed the temple, which is their sixth temple and it took them 40 years for its completion. The shrine is located in downtown Salt Lake City, amidst numerous mountain peaks.
The shrine with five floors, six spires and a grenade frontage has been built using native materials. One can find many carved stones known as "sunstones" which represent Heaven, "moonstones" in different phases representing this life in its various phases, and "starstones" representing Jesus Christ, around the temple.
Since the shrine is considered sacred by the church, public tours are not allowed here. Only the members of the church and a temple recommend can enter. The grounds of the temple are open to the public and has been a source of tourist attraction for the last many years.
