4.The Vanishing Honey Bees
Honey bees are fast becoming extinct at the rate of 30 to 90 percent, say beekeepers. The last 4 years have seen 20 to 30 percent honey bee colonies disappearing in U.S. Europe also witnessed a similar occurrence as 30 percent of the honey bee population in U.K. died. Italy had a worse bee mortality rate of 50 percent. The bee population across the world has been similarly decreasing and this is being termed a unique epidemic called Colony Collapse Disorder(CCD). Many biologists are still trying to find out as to why this is happening.
