Pay attention to him and everything around you. Listen to him carefully and wait till he finishes the conversation and then respond. If you want time to answer, give a smile and expressions as if the answers are on the tip of your tongue. You are just trying to be a person who thinks before reacting so he would conclude that you are a good decision maker.
