InterContinental Hotels Group or IHG is a global hotels company headquartered in U.K. it has over 4,500 hotels across over 100 countries out of which 3,768 of its hotels operate under franchise agreements. The origin of the hotel can be traced back to 1777 when William Bass set up a brewery in Burton-on-Trent. In 1960's Bass acquired a number of well-known regional brewing companies including Mitchells & Butlers.
