Twilio
Twillo sounded very much like Twitter; however it has nothing to do with it. Danielle Morrill, Director of Marketing, said in Quora that when people ask "does Twilio have anything to do with Twitter? He found that there are two benefits to the brand, firstly people generally have a positive opinion of Twitter, so their initial attitude towards the concept "Twilio" is generally warm and second people know what Twitter does, so the association with Twilio makes the brand feel accessible, even though it is a product for software developers. Twilio zeroed in the name by making sounds with their mouths that reminded them vaguely of telephony. They searched the name in Google and found unavailable. This would have been about 3 years ago, before Twitter was so incredibly huge. According to Jeff Lawson, Twilio's CEO, Twilio.com was a $7 domain name.
