One of the 39 manufacturers of handsets that use Google’s Android operating systems, Motorola Mobility was acquired by Google in August 2011 for $12.5 billion. This is one of the most expensive acquisitions of Google till date. The acquisition was made to enable Motorola to supercharge the Android ecosystem.
